About FEST FILM LAB
FEST FILM LAB is an international professional training platform dedicated to the film, television and audiovisual industries.
Our programmes are built around a clear principle: meaningful professional development comes from direct access to the knowledge, experience and working methods of accomplished professionals who are actively shaping the industry.
FEST FILM LAB brings together internationally recognised directors, producers, cinematographers, editors, screenwriters, actors, casting directors, sound professionals, production designers and specialists from across the filmmaking process. Rather than focusing on introductory technical instruction, our programmes explore the creative thinking, professional methodologies and decision-making processes behind high-level work.
The aim is to give film and audiovisual professionals access to knowledge that is rarely available through conventional education: how experienced practitioners approach their craft, develop ideas, respond to creative and production challenges, collaborate across departments and make the decisions that ultimately shape a film or audiovisual work.
Our training covers a broad range of disciplines, including directing, screenwriting, producing, cinematography, editing, sound, acting, casting, production design, post-production, film financing and production management, alongside more specialised areas and emerging developments within the industry.
Over the years, FEST FILM LAB has worked with leading figures from international cinema, including Oscar, BAFTA and major international film festival winners and nominees. Professionals involved in our programmes have included Melissa Leo, Asghar Farhadi, Stuart Dryburgh, Peter Webber, Béla Tarr, Mark Ulano, Nina Hartstone, John Warhurst, Chris Dickens, Barry Ackroyd, Iain Smith, Nancy Bishop, Christopher Hampton, Joe Walker, Mick Audsley, Francesca Jaynes and many others.
FEST FILM LAB has developed and delivered professional training programmes internationally, working across different countries and professional environments and bringing together filmmakers and industry professionals from around the world. Its activities have taken place in cities including London, Berlin, Lisbon, Paris, New York, Barcelona, Singapore and Hong Kong.
At the centre of FEST FILM LAB is a commitment to professional relevance. Our programmes are developed in close connection with contemporary industry practice and are designed to provide knowledge, perspectives and working methods that professionals can apply directly to their own creative and professional development.
